Jupiter

Usually when you look at the sky and spot a bright light, you realize it's an airplane or satellite. For these past couple of days, however, that may not be the case. It's right next to the moon and it's pretty hard to miss (even with my terrible vision), so be on the look out for that bright shining Jupiter in the sky! If you have a telescope, you can even catch a glimpse of its four beautiful moons~

People don't look up and admire the night sky as much. How could they? With all the space junk and flying machinery cluttering the nightscape, wouldn't you think that people would be a little disinterested in taking in the night scene?

At least for these next couple of nights you'll be able to spot a natural wonder in the sky :)

These are a few pictures I took.  The first is just directly at Jupiter through the camera.  The second is with my camera pointed at the lens of my telescope.  I don't have an attachment, so it is kind of hard to hold it still and focus, but I think it turned out alright.  You can see four moons if you look at the enlarged image.  Can anyone name them all?  Anyway, the third is just a picture of the moon through the telescope.  I underexposed it a bit, so it is kind of dark, but I still think it looks cool.  There are some more pictures on my Flickr.

It is pretty relaxing to look at the sky at night.  I don't think I can put it better than Jess did, so take her advice and get out.
